Evansdale Elementary Eagle Trek
Walk-a-Thon
The Tucker Farmers Market is pleased to welcome the Evansdale Elementary Eagle Trek Walk-a-Thon. Stop by the next two Thursdays, Sept. 20 and Sept. 27 to find out how you can help them reach their fundraising goal of $65,000! This week, you can find them next to Tia’s Chia.
All donations are 100% tax deductible. Checks may be made out to Evansdale Education Foundation.
A delicious way to contribute
On the afternoon of September 20, the Old Tucker Fountain will also host an ice cream social. The owner, a former Evansdale Eagle, will generously donate 50% of the cost of the ice cream sundaes to Eagle Trek (we’ll receive $2 per sundae). It will be a really fun way to support our school fundraiser! We hope to see you there!
Rivers Alive
Members of the Tucker Civic Association will be at the market this week to register folks for ,its 5th Annual Rivers Alive Clean Up onSaturday, October 6* from 9am – noon along the South Fork Peachtree Creek walking trail off Cowan Road. Registration for the event is required.
You may also register yourself or your group now by emailing volunteertca@gmail.com to receive a planning kit with all the details. All participants must be at least 10 years old. Besides removing trash and debris from alongside the creek, we’ll have an art station where kids can use dumped wood found on-site to make signs with messages like “Keep Our Creeks Clean” or “Please Don’t Litter.” These signs will then hang on trees along the walking trail. We’ll also have live music by Tucker’s very own Zach Whiteis. Join us this year!
*Heavy rain date is Saturday, October 20, 9a-12n.Upcoming Events

Mama J’s Hydroponic Produce
Mama J’s Produce is a hydroponic greenhouse growing local, pesticide free lettuce and herbs. Started in 2009 in Cartersville, Georgia, Mama J’s is owned and operated by a mother and son team, Carol and John Jerauld. Concerns about the safety of the food her family was eating sparked Carol’s interest in locally grown, pesticide free produce. John is challenged by the technological aspect of growing healthy food and preserving the environment in the process. By combining these interests, Carol and John have started what can truly be called a “locally grown family farm”.
Straight From the Backyard
We are a small acre farm that practices sustainable agricultural methods, located outside of Loganville, Ga. We grow a large variety of vegetables; some are heirloom while others have only been available for a few years. We believe that having fun in cooking and incorporating new varieties in our diet is key to healthy eating. We hope our vegetables allow you to explore flavors from other cultures, countries and even varieties from our own country that have nearly become extinct.
